017 Touch Art Sampler (derivatives). License: Free. You can play with animations, although more than one / VJ synthesizer studio than anything else.

TrueSpace 3.2 (Caligari). License: Free. Full 3D rendering and output. Apparently totally free. You still need to register for an unlock code on the site. Cross-compatible with many programs.
