Lemon laws are state laws that offer some relief to people who bought cars that do not always quality and performance. While the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act does not protect all Americans, most states have their own additional laws, called lemon laws that define what a lemon is in that particular state. State laws vary widely from state to state and what you consider May a lemon May not meet the definition of your particular state.

Generally, if you've had your car for repair at least four times for same problem, you may have a lemon. If you suspect that your car is a lemon, there are certain things you must do to prove your case.

Keep all your documents

It is extremely important to be able to prove that your car is a lemon. One way to do this is to keep all documents associated with your automobile. Cling to all work orders, receipts, owner's manual, and any warranty information that you provided when you purchased the car.

Take notes

Write the best you can remember conversations that you had with someone who has worked on your vehicle at the dealership. Note the date and time you spoke with each person if it was phone or in person.

Request Service Bulletins

The dealer will take your car to repair it will probably provides no service bulletins from the manufacturer about your brand and model of vehicle. It is up to you to ask for them, and if you suspect your car is a lemon, it is strongly suggested to do.

Consult a lawyer

If you think your car is a lemon, you should consult a qualified lawyer in your state to see if you have a claim under the laws of your state lemon. Make sure the lawyer you consult is familiar with the laws of your state lemon.
