What digital SLR should I buy for photography magazine? I am not a professional photographer?

My partner and I have established a magazine of the local community, we have used a point and shoot camera digital, but I think we must now turn to a reflex. We have no professional training in photography, so have limited knowledge on the subject. I searched the Internet for different magazines, but everything seems to be drowning in information. Please someone can offer advice please !!!!!

DSLR any point will be good enough. Something like the Nikon D40 or Canon Digital Rebel XT/350D is perfect for a starter like you.
