Looking for a decent macro lens for Rebel XT Cannon?

I need a lens for shooting detailed miniatures widely from one inch to three inches in height. Must work in a range from a few inches to two feet of the subject, for a small detail or a small unit of several parts. I'm picking up the terminology, but I'm still trying to choose a target lost. I debates on the USM EF-S60mm f/2.8 Macro f/2.8 Macro USM EF100mm (which pushes my price range, but I will do whatever is the best choice) and the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC IF Macro for Canon SLR. We reviewed the Tamron lens, but I'm Leary of "doing what I paid for" or they have excellent reviews and very bad comments. If one knows their lens or miniature photography I have any suggestions or recommendations for my needs. Since the Rebel XT is the EF-S mount and your subjects do not move, the EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens is a great choice. EFR 100mm f/2.8 is a bit better if you want to enter the macro photograph of something that can scare you if too close, such as insects, although the 3.5 The 180mm is better for it, but expensive. If you really want the details, look at the MP-E 65mm f/2.8. You can get 5x size with this lens. So you can really see the detail.
